Four of Liverpool’s Tallest Buildings

The English city of Liverpool is home to some of the tallest buildings in the United Kingdom. Here are some of the tallest edifices in Liverpool.

1. West Tower: West Tower is the tallest building in the city with a height of 140 meters or 459 feet. The skyscraper is classified as a mixed edifice which means that it houses both commercial and residential quarters. The building has a total of 40 floors and provides some of the finest vistas of the city and its surrounding areas. Recent studies show that West Tower is the third tallest building outside of London and the 83^rd tallest building in the European Union. The most noted tenant of the skyscrapers is the Beetham Organization which uses the first five floors of the building as their headquarters. The 34^th floor of West Tower is home to the famous Panoramic restaurant. The restaurant is the highest restaurant in the United Kingdom. The skyscraper is located in the central parts of the city as about two miles from the noted Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King. The fact that the building lies in central Liverpool means that its tenants can have easy access to various public services such as man and van services. In fact some of the city’s most renowned and acclaimed movers are situated in the areas surrounding West Tower.
2. Liverpool Cathedral: The Liverpool Cathedral is built on St. James’s Mount and is the seat of the Bishop of Liverpool. Although most of the building isn’t especially high it is the cathedral’s tower (101 meters or 331 feet) that makes it the second tallest building and third tallest structure in the city. An interesting fact about Liverpool Cathedral is that it is the world’s longest cathedral with a length of 189 meters or 207 yards. It is also the fifth largest cathedral in the world.
3. Beetham Tower: This building is a residential apartment building that is located in the central parts of Liverpool. Beetham Tower is in fact situated in close proximity to the aforementioned West Tower. The edifice is 90 meters or 900 feet tall and is the third tallest building in the city. Beetham Tower has a total of 29 floors and just like its taller counterpart offers to its resident’s easy access to various public service companies such as man and van companies.
4. Royal Liver Building: The Royal Liver Building has the same height as the Beetham Tower but unlike the tower wasn’t built during the last decade. The Royal Liver Building was built during the first decade of the 20^th century and until 1932 was the tallest building in Europe and until 1961 the tallest building in the United Kingdom. The building is listed as a Grade I edifice and is part of Liverpool’s UNESCO designated World Heritage Maritime Mercantile-City. Today the Royal Liver Building is one of the city’s most recognizable and visited landmarks and is served by a total of 12 elevators.
