Ford Estate is a housing estate on the Wirral Peninsula in Merseyside. The housing estate’s construction took ten years in the period nineteen sixty – nineteen seventy. Later on, the Ford Estate became known as Beechwood. Initially, the housing estate was council owned and managed, however now the complex is managed by a community housing group/association. Some of the flats within the estate were sold to people under the Right to Buy scheme. The former Ford Estate is the northernmost part of a larger, three part housing estate. Ford itself is now divided into three different sections – Upper Bidston Village, Beechwood and Greenfields. In the last decade or so, the estate has seen significant improvements in infrastructure and layout. Some of the wooded areas were redeveloped, a lot of the aging residential structures were demolished and replaced by new housing. Interestingly enough, at the start the housing estate had only one shopping area, but five pubs. Nowadays, the area makes use of all public amenities required by local residents.
Ford Estate, now called Beechwood is a residential complex on the Wirral Peninsula, built in the nineteen seventies in order for council to provide residents with better standard of living and more public amenities.
