Bromborough is a village of considerable proportions with a population exceeding 12 000 residents. Historically, Bromborough was a notable market settlement and the center of local economy, and even today the market place is used for a variety of commercial activities. The impression that Bromborough is more peculiar than your ordinary British village is further strengthened by the fact that the settlement has not one, but two local newspapers – Bromborough and Bebington News and the Wirral Globe. The Churchyard Cross at St Barnabas’ Church is probably the best known local landmark. It dates to the 10th or 11th century and has seen much of the history of Bromborough itself. The Stanhope House is another place worth visiting here. Not only the house itself is really beautiful, but the courtyard wall of the estate, or at least a part of it, most probably dates back to the Middle Ages. The old time Market Cross still exists too.
